A Prayer Between Breaths
Astaghfirullāh—
My Lord, forgive me
for every sin I carry,
the ones whispered in silence
and the ones exposed to the light
when my faith grew weak.
Allāhu akbar—
You are the Greatest,
greater than my fear,
greater than my failure.
You are able to do all things,
including forgiving me
when I lose my way.
Lā ilāha illallāh—
You alone are my God,
I worship none but You,
though my heart sometimes strays,
distracted by desire,
forgetful of its true return.
Subḥānallāh—
You are the Most Pure,
untouched by fault or sin,
while I stand here,
a servant weighed down by flaws,
yet still hoping
in a mercy
that never ends.
