film riddick - vin diesel
Stranded on a desolate planet five years after The Chronicles of Riddick, Riddick emerges from a pile of rubble badly wounded and with a broken leg. He manages to reset and splint his broken leg and fend off several dog-like beasts that approach him. Needing time to heal, Riddick hides himself and enters a state of hibernation. While sleeping, Riddick experiences a series of flashbacks starting from the ending of The Chronicles of Riddick. It reveals his increasing displeasure and unease as the Lord Marshall of the Necromongers and his desire to return to his homeworld of Furya. Riddick strikes a deal with Commander Vaako; the location of Furya and a ship to take him there in exchange for Vaako becoming the new Lord Marshal. Riddick and a group of Necromongers, led by Krone, arrive on the desolate planet. Recognizing it is not Furya, Riddick kills most of his escort when they attempt to assassinate him. Krone uses pulse rifles to collapse the ledge Riddick is standing on, burying him in the rubble he later emerged from.
Emerging from hibernation, Riddick locates a vast savannah of grasslands, but the only passage is guarded by several scorpion-like creatures that hide in the nearby muddy pools. Riddick spends time building up an immunity to the scorpion-creature venom while raising and training an orphaned pup of the dog-like beasts. Using hand-made weapons, Riddick succeeds in killing several of the scorpion-creatures and reaching the savannah with his 'pet' dog-beast. Later, Riddick locates an empty mercenary station, and notices a massive series of storms approaching which would unleash more of the scorpion-creatures. Needing to get off-world, Riddick activates the station's emergency beacon which broadcasts his identity and presence on the planet.
Soon, two ships arrive following the beacon, a group of bounty hunters led by a man named Santana, and a better equipped team of mercenaries led by a man named Boss Johns. They notice a note left by Riddick telling them to leave one of the ships and depart the planet if they don't want to be killed. Rubio, Nunez and Falco are killed during the first night, forcing the reluctant Santana to cooperate with Johns. Riddick later manages to steal a power core from each of the teams' ships and then approaches Johns and Santana to strike a deal for their return. However, the conversation goes bad and Riddick's dog-beast is shot and killed by Santana and Johns' second-in-command, Dahl, shoots Riddick with powerful tranquilizers.
Johns interrogates Riddick about the final fate of his son, William Johns (the mercenary from Pitch Black). When the storms finally reach the station, large numbers of the scorpion-creatures emerge from the muddy ground, and besiege the station, killing Lockspur, Moss and Vargas. Johns agrees to release Riddick to go locate the hidden power cores, but Santana stops him and attempts to kill Riddick, who beheads Santana for killing his dog-companion. Riddick, Johns, and one of Santana's men, Diaz, leave the station on hover bikes to go retrieve the power cores. Once there, Riddick reveals to Johns his son's morphine addiction and cowardly actions. Diaz attempts to kill Riddick and Johns, but is killed by Riddick, but not before unintentionally damaging the only working hover bike (Diaz had already disabled the second one).
Fending off numerious scorpion-creatures while running back to the station, Riddick is severely wounded. Johns takes both cores and abandons Riddick to the creatures. After treating his wound, Riddick begins to fight a losing battle against a seemingly endless horde of scorpion-creatures. Just when it seems he is about to be killed, Johns arrives in one of the ships and shoots the creatures while Dahl descends to rescue Riddick. Riddick then takes one of the ships and as he flies away from the planet, he is stopped by Johns in the other ship. Johns asks Riddick where he will go, but thinks better and decides to not know. Riddick praises Johns for being a better man than his son, before departing into space.
