This picture of the two pro footballers, described by our friend Deena as a photo “that borders on then romantic”, was snapped recently and is rocking the football world. Not unexpectedly, the question that some people are asking goes like this: “Hmm, are they doing it?” Our answer: We don’t know. But we are awed by the intimacy captured in the picture. Who says men cannot be intimate with each other, but not necessarily sexual, these days. 1gerard-and-zlatan For those not very familiar with the two, here’s some of their info courtesy of wikipedia: Zlatan Ibrahimovic: is a Swedish footballer who currently plays as a striker for Barcelona and the Swedish national team. He is of Bosnian and Croatian parentage. As of February 2009, Ibrahimovic, along with Kaká, were the highest salaried football players in the world with an annual pay of €9 million. Gerard Piqué: is a Spanish footballer, currently playing as a centre back for Barcelona. Piqué was raised in a wealthy Catalan family. His father is a lawyer, and his mother is the director of a medical institute. His grandfather, Amador Bernabeu, is the former vice-president of FC Barcelona. UPDATE A reporter asks Ibrahimovic about this controversial photo and what did he say? He invited the reporter and his sister to his home and there he will prove that he is not gay. Says he, “Come to my house and you’ll see If I’m gay…. And bring your sister.” Well, that really does not answer the question does it? What if they do go to his house and find him …. knitting a sweater or something. But then again, we also wouldn’t know how to deal with the controversy if we were placed in his shoes. Any suggestions on how Ibrahimovic and Pique should have responded (or should respond) to the “are you gay lovers” question?
